A Special Boy – A Special Day
I have a son Teigen and he just turned eight
And I’m here to tell you that he’s pretty great.
He’s sporty and tough – there’s no doubt he’s all boy
Yet, his sweet, bright, spirit brings us so much joy.
He loves EVERYTHING that we do every day
Playing ball, eating food, or just simple fun play.
When he plays for the Twins, (that’s his baseball team’s name)
He cheers just as hard as he plays in the game!
School lunch? Well not everyone finds such delight
He LOVES IT - DEVOURS IT- SAVORS each bite.
And if he spends too much time eating his food?
He pockets the rest and it tastes just as good!
He loves Golf, Karate and all kinds of ball
DS Games, Play Station - he just loves it all.
His Bug catcher, Nerf guns and Animals too
He’s happy with life and it shows through and through.
His voice isn’t quiet – not inside or out
You know how he’s feeling – there’s never a doubt.
He’s talkative, anxious- just happy to be
Involved in this life with great friends and family.
He loves Grandmas and Grandpas, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins
When you add them up there are dozens and dozens.
Whether running outside or just plain “hanging out”
He has a good feel for what Family’s about.
He looks up to Tylie – most times they’re best friends
And the times that they’re not, they are quick with amends.
His Dad is his idol – above any other
But oh! what an attachment he shares with his Mother!
He likes watching movies – Superheroes are best
And when nighttime comes, he is ready to rest.
He climbs into bed – without ever a fight
And sleeps like a log for the rest of the night.
He really lives life to the fullest you see
And he makes it fun for us – his Family.
Yet while all these temporal joys make Teigen smile
It’s his spiritual side that makes his life worthwhile.
Most kids on their birthdays are looking for gifts
But what he did this year gave my heart a lift.
He woke up and ran down the stairs just to say
“Mom” I need a gift for my teacher today!”
His prayers are the best, so sincere and so full
He actually blesses each heart, mind and soul.
When he prays he’s speaking with Father above
His prayers aren’t rehearsed - they’re just spoken with love.
He’s thoughtful of EVERYONE – sensitive too
To cheer someone up there’s NOTHING he won’t do.
He’s perceptive in a way surely unknown to some
A gift that will bless him in days that will come.
In summing it up, he is Christ- like no doubt
And that’s what this baptism is all about.
The newest young member – we’re happy to say
“Dear Teigen, we love you on this special day.
Remember what’s right as you covenant with God
And always hold tight to that strong Iron rod.
Stay just who you are and you’re certain to be
Blessed for all time and eternity!”
My very talented mom wrote this, and I read it on his "special day"`
